IPv6 Latency & Packet Loss in Nigeria

Since Sunday, 10th August 2025, we have observed increased latency and packet loss affecting IPv6 traffic in Nigeria. IPv4 traffic remains unaffected.

We began our investigation on Monday, 11th August 2025, and confirmed that:

  • The issue occurs beyond our network, starting at our upstream provider.

  • No CPU or memory stress has been detected on our routers.

  • IPv6 BGP sessions remain established with no route flap activity on our side.

  • Internal IPv6 connectivity and routing within our network is stable.

  • Packet loss and latency begin once traffic reaches the upstream handoff point.

We had hoped for a quicker resolution, but as this is now taking an extended period of time, we want to let you know that we are aware of the situation and are actively working with our upstream provider to resolve it.

In the meantime, IPv6 remains operational but you may experience higher latency and packet loss for certain destinations, especially with TCP-based services.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will share updates as soon as we have further information from the upstream provider.
